Mood: meh...
Today was...not a good day to say the least. It's "that time of the month...." which frankly is an expression that exasperates me because honestly...I'm such a mess that I have like 9 "times of the month" in a single week. Some days.
I woke up myself (which I do often) and kept thinking I should check the time....but since I had an alarm set (Lady Gaga's Bad Romance) and I hadn't heard it I continued to doze. Some time later I woke up and decided I was so awake that no matter what time it was I was getting out of bed. It was 8:12. I have to be at the office at 9...and I live a good 20 minutes away. So I showered...hurried out the door and made it into the office by 9:25ish. It was right before the being 30 minutes late mark...but still...I was impressed.
It's just, for me, it's hard to bounce back from that. I mean I wake up late...so I'm immediately disappointed in myself and anxious...and then I get into the office and I have all this nervous energy and nowhere to go with it. Some days I'm really good at channeling that...but when I'm achey and feeling sick and annoyed and tired...I pretty much mope. I did accomplish a few things at work today and tomorrow should be a pretty good day in terms of actually doing things...today was a lot of planning.
But I got home...frustrated and sad and tired and angry...and instead of cleaning I just got into bed. I didn't nap. I didn't even close my eyes...I just got in and had a little "lie down" and checked e-mail and whatnot. And I realized as I was doing this that my nice thing for the day was to do nothing for a few minutes. To not worry that I have an absolute mess of an apartment or that I had no idea what I was going to make for dinner...rather just to allow myself the time to do absolutely nothing was brilliant.
And don't worry...Caitlyn and I did eat dinner and after giving myself a little break...we even made cookies for dessert!
