Zooey 101

Mood:  anxious

Monday is over!  It wasn't a bad Monday to be perfectly honest, but I got super anxious tonight.  Like, my chest is tight and keeping an even and steady breath actually takes work at the moment.  I have no clue where this anxiety came from.  Or what could have triggered it.  Work was fine.  I felt semi-productive today, and Jeff and I went out for Chinese (my go to comfort food!).  So this random super anxiety is both unwelcome and unwarranted.

I'm sitting here attempting to calm down, and it's working a bit.  Something that is helping me:

That, dear readers, is the little princess that is Zooey Lilland.  All 2.5 pounds of her.  She got weighed on the cat scale...that's how little she is.  Though, comparing her to this:

...she is HUGE!  Okay.  Perhaps huge isn't the right word, but oh my goodness is she getting big fast!  It's so amazing to watch her grow...and I will continue to say she looks huge to me.  I can't wait to see who she turns out to be as a dog.  I'm hoping she learns the word "no," and that she starts sleeping through the night...but pretty much everything else can stay!  And she can continue to get (a little bit) bigger since my awesome sister (and her Pomeranian princess, Maddie) sent some super cute things for Zooey to grow into!

This little fluff ball is a wonderful reminder of the (almost) year that Jeff and I have spent married.  In some ways our marriage is an odd parallel to Zooey's growth as a puppy, we had to learn boundaries, saying and hearing "no" included.  Granted I didn't ever have to tell Jeff not to chew my shoes, but you get the idea.

Happy Monday everyone!  And may you find something that centers you in times of great stress or anxiety as well!

Sunday Night Blues

Mood:  happy, lazy

Ah Sunday evenings.  I hate Sunday evenings.

I pretty much always have.  Since 4th grade.  I get all anxious and nervous and start feeling depressed.  Ugh.  Some weeks are better than others.  This is not one of them.  And perhaps that's part of the reason that I hate tonight so much.  It was a fantastic weekend!

Yesterday was so much fun with Jeff.  We didn't do anything crazy, or super extravagant but looking at books and watching Batman then heading out to get comics was the perfect Saturday.  Or close to the perfect Saturday anyway.  Today has been great too.  We didn't leave the house, but I really kind of enjoyed that about today.  Some days you just need to totally veg out.  And we did.  Watched some old school Daria (still hilarious), caught up on Teen Mom and The Soup, and did laundry.  We took a little nap together...it was just a great day.

Still, the later in the evening it gets the more anxious I feel.  Sunday nights get to a point where I just want to go to bed so that the week can start and I can get closer to Friday.  Or Saturday.

Friends, my dear husband has gotten me my anniversary present (ALREADY!).  So he's a few weeks early...but I suppose that I can forgive that.  This Saturday we get to pick her up. Yes.  Her.

That's right!  I get to cross one more thing of my list of 101 in 1001!  We are adding a Pomeranian to the family.  I've already named her in fact.  Zooey.  On Saturday Jeff and Malcolm and I get to bring her home.

So while Sunday night this week still does suck, and I'm still super anxious....at least I have a pretty epic weekend to look forward to.  A weekend spent with the boys, and now my new little girl!

I hope you had a great weekend.  And that your week starts off well, and if it doesn't....Tuesday is a new day!  And it's that much closer to the next weekend!!!

Mini Futon

Mood:  Accomplished.  Exhausted.

I've been up since 5am.  Please forgive the rambling should it occur. Yesterday was amazing.  Well, it turned out to be amazing.  And today...about the same.

Again, I got up at 5.  Screwed around until right before 7 and then got up, walked Maddie, and started packing.  Loading cars, then a nice shower...and since I had to go to work today I decided to do my own version of "suiting up."  I actually put on eyeshadow and "real" make-up and nicer clothes.  The first nice thing I did for myself today.

Just because I work with old people doesn't mean that I can't look pretty.  So I did my make-up...cause again...just because I was going to spend the rest of the day packing and loading and unloading doesn't mean I can't look pretty.

And we DID end up getting the keys to the apartment today.  After much hounding on my part, we learned we could have started this morning and so immediately after I changed out of my work clothes we headed over.  We took 2 full car loads, Maddie, and our enthusiasm and drove 20 miles outside of town to the new apartment.  Once there we unloaded faster than I've ever seen done before and even started to assemble some things (precisely only those things that required a screwdriver as those were the only tools we had on hand).

One thing Caitlyn and I were adamant about having in the apartment was a futon.  There's only one bedroom and I feel confident we'll need extra sleeping space.  After literally a month of searching and researching and price checking there was ONE that we (and Dad who was paying) could agree upon.  We picked it up from the store yesterday and unpacked it today.  Caitlyn had discovered it in "dorm" furniture because it says it's perfect for small spaces...which is exactly what we're working with.  The box was gigantic when we picked it up, which scared us a bit, however...when the box was unloaded we had a Maddie sized futon already assembled (hence large box).  Okay, Cait did screw in the feet that put it about 6" off the ground.

Even Caitlyn can't lay on it without her feet hanging off...and she's a good inch or two shorter than me.  Maddie seems to think it belongs only to her as it is her size...but at the end of the day...Caitlyn and I sat on it together and decided it WAS the perfect futon.  Pink.  Ours.  Maddie can jump onto without a problem.  And I finally have a place to display the hand beaded pillow covers I bought in India almost 3 years ago.

I know it's beginning to get cliche....but this blog really is about the small(er) things...

More pictures of Maddie in the apartment to come...as soon as more tools arrive....

Little Things, Big Heels

Mood:  showered, relaxed, tired, slightly accomplished

Today I woke up at 6am.  Thus, if the blog post earlier rambled and didn't make sense, it's because I wrote it at 6am.  After that, I decided to go back to sleep since today is my only day off in...I'm not sure how long because the September calendar for work has not been made.  After 20 minutes of tossing and turning, I decided to get my day going by prepping my nails for painting and pampering.

After which, it was time for the inevitable:  packing.  Caitlyn and I packed most of our clothes (okay about half of our clothes) and kitchen items  Bathroom items, living room items AND in addition to organizing and packing all of that, we took multiple loads to the car and to be ready to literally just GO.  After that, I decided to treat myself to a nap, which really ended up laying in bed while Cait talked then did some work, and I eventually woke up.  More packing.  And then I did my nice thing for myself today.

I totally shaved my legs in a luxuriously long shower.  And after painting my nails and showering and shaving...Caitlyn and I sat down to watch the Emmy's.  I LOVE red carpets...and some day I want to walk one.  Which is why perhaps I'll have a red carpet at my wedding...just for fun.  Anyway, sometimes I get bored and to spice things up I put on heels or do my make-up or wear a tiara.  Tonight:

Unfortunately at the first commercial break to the Emmy's we went to the bathroom...and saw poor Maddie all alone in the bed waiting for us excitedly to get in with her.  So we moved from one room to the other and decided to cuddle with the lonely little puppy instead of watching people win awards and fawning over dresses and shoes.  After all...sometimes life really is all about the little things.
