Mood: Heaven can wait
Thursdays are generally my Fridays. Today is. My Friday, that is. I mean, it's Thursday which is my personal Friday. My last day in the office for the "work week." And thank God for that. In case you can't tell from the nonsense that is the previous 3-4 sentences, I am pretty much delirious. I haven't slept in almost a full week other than the occasional hours here and there...and I've been working my freaking ass off. Not literally...although my jeans are getting loose again. I think that's just from fatigue and lack of eating though. I'm pretty sure it's not significant weight loss.
Anyway. So this "weekend" I plan on a few things. Namely catching up on sleep and I have a fantastic idea as to how I'm going to go about that. As for the rest of my "weekend?" Up in the air. I do know this much, I'm pretty stoked about it.
Yeah I went there. Stoked. The word's stuck in my head and I'm so tired I can't function enough to find a synonym. I'm actually proud that I recalled that word correctly. My high school English teachers would be so proud.
So...if you know me...or read this blog ever...you know I'm pretty hardcore about my music. And uh...by that I think what I mean is that I'm always listening to it and I listen intensely. I actually hear words when somebody sings them. In fact...if life were a musical I'd be much more apt to NOT forget what people say. I spend so much more effort trying to catch words in a song than I do when people are actually talking to me. Or most of the time anyway. Sometimes I care enough to listen...other times I'm either listening to a song in my head or meowing up there (old joke...but so good).
Today is no different than any other day. I started the day off with a little Doors. I needed something that I hadn't heard in a while. Jimmy sang me through my shower and leaving the house process then since I left the iPod at the office last night it was Owl City driving to work. Can I just say how much I love the song "Dental Care" because it's so cute. And it makes me think of my last job back home and while I don't miss the work I sincerely miss the people.
Anyway so I got into the office...went to a meeting...and got back to the office. I'm now just counting hours and putting in face time until I can leave for the day and pass out. So to keep me awake without adding a ridiculous amount of caffeine to my system I've been inhaling music videos all day. It started with Cobra Starship...moved to Cash Cash...and ended with this one...by We The Kings. I've never seen it before today and I mean...it's cute...but it's definitely more the song that is the focus of my attention. It was the first WTK song that I knew by heart...a quick favorite turned into an old friend.
Plus it speaks to my weekend. Not the dog show...I don't plan on attending one...nor do I PLAN on seeing goats this weekend...but I do intend to remember to FEEL alive. And live in the moment.
So often I let myself get carried away in the "doing" of life that I miss out on the actual living part. I'm pretty sure we all get caught up in the things we have to do...instead of those we want to do. The things that really make us feel alive. The things that make us wanna scream "Heaven can wait." It's nice to be at a place in my life where I can afford to put off some responsibility and some of the tedious "doings" and experience some living. I'm actually pretty proud that I got here all by myself. Taking chances, and LIVING life.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend...whenever that may be for you. And remember...even if it's something as simple as going pantsless for a night (I'm looking at you Mom) live a little.
OH and enjoy We The Kings. Travis is so adorbs. <3

Girls Day
Mood: sleeeeeeepy, satisfied
Today, Caitlyn and I had a girl's day. I got a Vera Wang skirt for $10!!!!! Major score. In addition everything I bought today was on sale....with the exception of a $15 DVD. I think the nice thing is self explanatory. Girls day = nice thing. So I'll leave you with some enjoyable pictures.
Another nice thing...I wore red lipstick. I've always been too scared to do red lips, as I thought it would look clownish...but I LOVED today's look!
And my accomplice for the day....
Delicious Blue Moon with lunch.
Afternoon refueling...Pumpkin Spice Latte....

Go Green
Mood: happy, nostalgic
I have not been to a high school football game since my homecoming game at Emmaus High School in 2001. That's 9 years. Getting ready for the game (part of my job now) was anxiety riddled at best. It's weird how you can remove yourself from high school, and grow, and truly make progress...but there's ALWAYS that 16 year old girl in you wanting to impress your peers....or the parents...or the kids themselves in my case.
Anyway...I got to the game. It was the last home game of the season, thus the last game at which the band played. My dad was a member of this band for his high school career...and it was neat to see how much it has transformed. Perhaps my favorite part of the evening, at halftime, they played songs from Harry Potter (YES!!!!)
Please forgive that my pics keep going sideways....I fix them and then this is how they upload. Anyway...so I decided I needed to invest in some "Tornado" pride attire...but couldn't find a shirt I REALLY liked so I went with the next best thing....
This was definitely a hit with me (and by the way...Emmaus DID NOT have these when I went...just saying...). So waving my finger and actually paying attention to the game...I got...happy, excited, and terribly homesick. I miss my parents...and being in the same place my father spent his high school years...it was awesome....but sad. I wish we could have shared that together.
But perhaps the best thing about tonight and the nice thing I did for myself today involved the cheerleaders. If you know me, you know I WISH I had been one...and I've always loved the sport. I still watch ESPN cheerleading when it's on. I noticed (as did Caitlyn who bravely accompanied me on this sojourn) that the cheerleaders had hot pink pom poms.
Interesting as the school colors are green and white. But for the month of October, they're using hot pink to raise awareness for breast cancer...and they collected donations during halftime for the local hospital's woman's program. I donated freely...without worrying about my budget. My nice thing today was that I not only went back to high school...but I gave of myself, and my bank account freely...with the knowledge that God has, does, and will continue to provide.

Living Simply
Mood: tired, hopeful, excited
The title of this blog suggests that I am, well, living simply. Which is not a lie. I am currently (as we just moved into the new place) living without internet, cable, a printer, a land line, even a "real" bed isn't in my world right now.
While one might assume that a bed would be of the utmost importance...I find I'm honestly FREAKING OUT without having connection to the internet. It's literally killing me to not blog everyday and to not constantly check e-mails. Sure, I can check Facebook and my e-mails on my phone....but it's not the same. Nor is it quick...and it's difficult to write e-mail responses. And trying to connect with one who lives in another country....near impossible without the internet. Incredibly frustrating.
At the same time I'm remembering how much I love cooking. And having a quiet night with Caitlyn and Maddie over some hilarious movies is more fulfilling than 10 hours on the web anyway. That being said though, I still miss being able to get online. I miss this blog. Mainly because, while I'm still doing my daily nice things....the ritual of writing it everyday is something I truly enjoy. And I sincerely hope that it encourages people to at least THINK about doing something nice for themselves.
I've done a few nice things lately...I've started a new book
which as I have no television or internet distraction, I can actually read when I have free time...mainly right before bed.
I had a girl's night in Omaha with Mommy and Caitlyn consisting mainly of drinking, but also sushi...shopping...and fancy water.
Those are pretty much the only pictures I've taken of my good things lately as I know I won't be able to post them. But they are all wonderful things. The book is still giving me wonderful things to read and laugh and cry with...and the water and alcohol are proof of the amazing and fun time I had with mom and Cait.
