Absolutely Fabulous

Mood:  absolutely fabulous

Black Friday has not been observed by me since...well I stopped working in retail.  And I "celebrated" then by heading into work before midnight...sooooooo it wasn't that fun.  So this year, Caitlyn and I decided to observe Black Friday Wal-Mart style.  We arrived around 11:30.  We had nothing in particular to buy...just wanted to have the whole experience.  And at 11:34 we realized why (or at least I did) Black Friday is horrible.  People are mean...there's never enough space...and apparently the only thing I really wanted (Red Bull) was cautioned off.  Actually, about 50% of the store was caution taped off.  Thus making it near impossible to get anywhere effectively.

And after Black Friday becomes....Sleepy Saturday.  After a whirlwind of activity and emotions on Friday came...Saturday.  And today...came napping.  A lunch of nachos (with guacamole!!!) and brownies for dessert.  Cait and I both needed some easy and comforting food.  Melted cheese...salsa....and chocolate....wonderful!  And then the wonderful afternoon of bloated lounging around began.  With a marathon of hilarious things that make us laugh.

Being nice to myself today, Caitlyn and I watched an entire afternoon of Absolutely Fabulous.  And it was absolutely fabulous.

Lazy Friday

Mood:  tired, content

Today I FINALLY came up (with Caitlyn's awesome creative talent) with the exact design for my new tattoo.  It's going to be small and most likely right behind my left ear.  You'll have to wait and see what it is until it's posted...but I'm REALLY excited about this one.

It's Friday...and I usually don't go into the office on Fridays at all, but I took Tuesday off as I wasn't feeling well so played catch up today.  After a few hours working...Cait and I split for Sioux City.  An awesome wool coat (ON SALE) and a new bra (one broke this week....) we headed home.  And I sit now hanging out in bed at 8:24 on a Friday night.  And it's Halloween weekend.

But to be honest...I'm pretty exhausted.  This week took a lot out of me.  So I'm going to curl into bed...perhaps get a bit of food and get to bed early.  An easy, restful day was just what my soul needed (and the new coat didn't hurt!!!!).

Girls Day

Mood:  sleeeeeeepy, satisfied

Today, Caitlyn and I had a girl's day.  I got a Vera Wang skirt for $10!!!!!  Major score.  In addition everything I bought today was on sale....with the exception of a $15 DVD.  I think the nice thing is self explanatory.  Girls day = nice thing.  So I'll leave you with some enjoyable pictures.

Another nice thing...I wore red lipstick.  I've always been too scared to do red lips, as I thought it would look clownish...but I LOVED today's look!

And my accomplice for the day....

Delicious Blue Moon with lunch.

Afternoon refueling...Pumpkin Spice Latte....

All in all a wonderful day.  Every once in a while, it's okay to indulge...and to spend a little money on yourself.

Exploring

Okay, so as mentioned in the last blog, Caitlyn and I were supposed to head to Des Moines today to see We the Kings in concert.  And of course, the massive butter statues which can only (I assume anyway) be seen in Iowa.  So...we didn't.  But not for lack of money.  Somehow God gave us a little extra (okay we traded a ton of quarters we were saving in a piggy bank...) but still we didn't go.  When we woke up it was kinda dark (it was also before 7) and felt sticky.  Like a storm coming in.  After checking the weather and seeing severe weather (according to my iPhone app for The Weather Channel) predicted for all afternoon/evening/night...we decided to skip out on the concert (I'm still mourning this a bit) and instead head to Sioux City for a girl's day.

This was an awesome idea.  Not only did we have a phenomenal day...but it was nearly 100% free.  And we explored places in the city we've never gone to before.  And can I just say that my new favorite store in the world is Hobby Lobby.  I've always laughed at the name but seriously...I mean...AMAZING.  For my friends on the east coast it's like an A.C. Moore meets Micheal's meets wedding supply store meets...I don't even know what else.  And they have Christmas decorations up!

So I did two major things for myself today:  I drank TONS of water (which annoyed Cait when I needed to find bathrooms in new stores/areas IMMEDIATELY and often) and allowed myself to completely lose track of time while perusing Christmas decorations...mirrors...crosses...flowers...tiaras...and every other odd/end you could think of.  I wish I could live in that store.  For a while anyway.

After getting all kinds of ideas on how to decorate the new apartment...I feel more excited than ever.  And while I would love to see both of my parents...at least I get half the equation in September.  Mommy's coming for a WHOLE WEEK.  To help Cait and I settle in...to bring us things we have at home already.  We'll also be visiting her parents...and Omaha to spend a night out in Old Market getting unnecessarily drunk.  I can't wait.
